Special Guest Stars

Lenore Crawford - Fabric Art by Lenore Crawford

After working in a hospital lab and then chemical research for many years, Lenore Crawford wanted to pursue her passion for art as a full-time endeavor. She has worked in many different media including pen and ink, acrylics, wood, and others and became intrigued with fabric.

She has developed her own fiber art style and technique and calls it “Impressionistic Fabric Blending” using 2” squares of hundreds of different fabrics cut randomly and assembled to create a sort of fabric “painting”. Currently she is using fusing and fabric paints to create her fiber art. She has been lecturing on and teaching the fusing technique she developed to quilt guilds, private students, and quilt shows nationally and internationally. She has won numerous prizes for her work at art shows and quilt shows across the country.

Her technique has been published in the Quilters’ Newsletter Magazine and American Quilter Magazine, and her electronic book called “Impressionistic Fabric Blending – Create Your Own Art Quilt” has been well received. She was also featured on Kaye Wood’s Quilting Friends PBS program in Episode #1607. A native Midlander, Lenore loves to travel to France to visit with friends and hike in the mountains with her children and husband.

Designs with Lines, is another business that was started by Pam Clarke in 1998. This technique was designed to help speed up the quilting process by using simple lines as a guide to create individual designs. Pam has been creating her own stencils for several years and this technique is used for the home machine quilter or the longarm machine quilter. She has available 8 videos From Beginning to the Advanced Machine quilter, along with Sketchbooks full of ideas to go along with her stencils.

Pam has also expanded her business this year to include Log Cabin Dry Goods, the largest retail and machine-quilting store in Spokane. With A-1 machine rentals, drop off quilting services, a broad range of classes, high quality, low cost fabrics, die cut services and meeting rooms, Pam is excited to see Log Cabin Dry Goods grow.
In 2009 Pam was voted Teacher of the year for the Home Machine Quilt Show in Salt Lake City, UT.

“Old Quilts Made New” Special Quilt Display
sponsored by Pam Clarke, Teacher, Quilter and Collector!

Pam has been collecting vintage quit tops since she started quilting in1970. She just loves the older fabrics and loves finishing quilt tops whether by hand or machine. In her collection she has tried to keep the quilting in the traditional style of that era. She uses her quilting talents and makes no changes or re- sets the top unless it is in really poor condition. Pam says, “I feel that every quilt deserves to be finished, and it is my goal to complete all the ones I’ve collected.”

Her favorite quilts are Log Cabins, Dresden Plates and Grandmother’s Flower Garden. She has found these tops everywhere she travels; in antique shops, on E-bay etc. Pam has a few appliqué quilts in her collection, but these are very rare to find and in good condition. She teaches a class called, “Blending the Old with the New,” and it is one of her favorites. In this class she discusses how to finish these tops, fixing any problems before quilting and cleaning, along with a slide show of over 50 quilts. Check out all of Pam’s classes on the class schedule. Be sure and stop by this special quilt display area and see Pam’s fabulous quilts!
