Special Guest Educators - Reno 2013
Linda
McGehee - Ghee's
My style is easy and fun with a flair for detail. I like to work with a
basic design, generally a garment or handbag, and make several that look
entirely different using a variety of thread embellishments, piecing, or
embroidery ideas. I like to use the tools and feet that make the tasks
easier and more accurate.
Having acquired an interest in sewing at a very early age, Linda has been
teaching a variety of sewing techniques through her business, Ghee's, for 33
years. Very much a machinist, Linda likes to show her students how easy it
is to acquire professional results when you know the proper techniques. She
has designed numerous handbag and garment patterns. Her award winning books
make stitching easy and fun. She travels the globe teaching at stores,
guilds, and conventions, as well as makes TV appearances. Visit her web at
www.ghees.com.

favorite type of quilting is appliqué mixed with simple piecing with a scrappy
look that has won her numerous ribbons across the USA.

Sonja
Bezuidenhout - Lutterloh Patterns
Sonja Bezuidenhout has had a passion for sewing from a very
young age and her first sewing machine was a prize won in a
local competition. Born in South Africa, she first pursued a
Nursing career, but then sought a change in direction and
qualified as a Computer Programmer.
With the arrival of her first of three girls, she decided to
follow her passion and became a Dressmaker and later
established a Sewing School in the Limpopo Province of South
Africa. She was introduced to the Lutterloh Pattern Making
System in 1993 and was so impressed with the beautiful fit,
cut and style of the outfits created using the system; she
began teaching her students using Lutterloh patterns.
Six years later the Bezuidenhout family and their business
moved to New Zealand, and Sonja began teaching sewing and
pattern making from her new home in Auckland. The Lutterloh
family in Germany approached the Bezuidenhout’s with an
offer to promote the program through New Zealand, Australia
and the United Kingdom. Trips to the USA and Canada were
also undertaken to stimulate the product at Craft Fairs.
Numerous articles on the Lutterloh system by Sonja have
featured in the Australian Sewing with Stitches magazine
She now travels mainly across New Zealand and Australia
presenting workshops and demonstrations at Fairs, Sewing
Shops, Fabric Stores and Conventions. When at home, she runs
Online Sewing Classes, Sewing Projects & Pattern Making
Retreats.
